Thailand Ltd.

Formerly known as Island Canning, whose operations were set up in Ratchaburi Province, the company's Thailand operations comprised the production and export of canned pineapples. Island Canning was a joint venture with a group of Thai businessmen. First relying on 300 rai of pineapple crops, the company later extended this by another 8,000 rai in Nongplub, PrachuabkhiriKhan province in 1972.
Just one year later, work was started on a new facility, located approximately 25 kilometers from HuaHin, Prachuabkhirikhan province, Island Canning's operations were moved to a new facility in 1974, and the company changed its name to Dole Thailand Ltd., or Dolethai for short.

Starting originally with just six pineapple-packing lines, the cannery now boasts as many as fifteen lines for packing pineapples, with an additional five for tropical fruit salad and cocktail. The present-day facility also possesses the capacity to concentrate 30,000 litres of pineapple juice per hour.

The 1980s brought improved technology to Dole Thailand Ltd., enabling the company to manufacture clear pineapple juice from peels to serve the special needs of markets in North America and Europe. In 1990, as part of its diversification efforts, the company started to grow Nata de Coco from coconut or other fruit wastes, as food supplements for the Asia market. Additionally, in 1993, Dolethai started producing various fruit juices for export to the US and Europe.

In 1992, Dole Thailand Ltd. set up a second cannery at Amphoe Thasae, Chumphon province. Not only did this major move expand the company's production base in Thailand, it also gave the company the option of souring fruits from Southern Thailand.

Besides its canneries in HuaHin and Chumphon, Dole Thailand Ltd. has several offices to handle shipping and local marketing operations. Information technology keeps each of its facilities in direct contact, while providing global communication links for clients and suppliers.
